Until recently, there was no hope for patients with devastating disability following stroke. The Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University School of Medicine, has developed two novel therapies, Stem Cell Transplant into the Brain and Brain-Computer Interface – which for the first time, provide the possibility of recovering meaningful arm movement, communication and ambulation in stroke patients disabled by paralysis or inability to speak.
