Enhancing community resilience through affordable preparedness education

Center for Biosecurity, Biopreparedness, and Emerging Infectious Diseases & The Center for Preparedness Education, University of Nebraska Medical Center

The Center for Biosecurity, Biopreparedness, & Emerging Infectious Diseases (BBEID) is a Board of Regents approved Center in the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. BBEID houses the Center for Preparedness Education, two graduate academic programs, and the Medical Director for the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit. The mission of The Center for Preparedness Education is to enhance community resilience through affordable preparedness education. Commissioned in 2002 by Nebraska Health and Human Services through Creighton University School of Medicine and University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), the Center for Preparedness Education has provided preparedness training in large part through Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) and Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) grants for over 13 years. They support the newly established National Ebola Training and Education Center with community outreach and resources to strengthen public health preparedness efforts nationally and have partnerships with Eastern Kentucky University for health and medical preparedness in rural communities.
