Materials of the Universe
The discovery of diverse and numerous exoplanets and surprising complexity in our own solar system poses a classic inverse problem in materials science - to deduce their materials and formation conditions based on a few observartions of properties. Space exploration and remote sensing, in turn, require improved materials. The center for Materials of the Universe at ASU brings together planetary scientists, chemists, physicists, and engineers to address these challenges in a holistic and multidisciplinary way.It will educate students with a broad base of knowledge for jobs in research and technology created by the growing interest in space exploration and the burgeoning space industry.
