The Centre for Organic Electronics (COE) is a Priority Research Centre at the University of Newcastle. Here, the primary focus is on the development of new electronic devices at the intersection between semiconductors and plastics with three main research themes in organic photovoltaics, sensors for organic transistors and organic, photonic materials. This technology provides opportunities for the development of new products and industries focused on the manufacture of printed electronic goods. Because of this approach, the COE has established key R&D relationships with local and international companies with the goal of developing commercial sensors and devices.
