Means Industries
Pioneering Automotive Solutions
For over 96 years, Means, one of the Amsted Industries, has partnered with OEM engineers to produce pioneering propulsion solutions. Headquartered in Saginaw, Michigan; Means began as a metal stamping plant and has now grown into two business units: Propulsion Systems and Transform Products, which focus on Propulsion technology. Means works closely with customers very early in the design cycle, in multi-disciplinary teams to yield the most effective solutions. This enables the engineering and manufacturing teams to support clients from the conceptual phase straight through to design and integration. Over twenty years ago, Means began engineering, designing, testing and manufacturing their own type of one-way clutches for OEM customers. Through customer collaboration, the Controllable Mechanical Diode Selectable One-Way Clutch technology produced a forward-thinking innovation that delivers robust engineering and manufacturing solutions. Using advanced proprietary manufacturing processes which include metal and aluminum flow-forming, roller-die forming and grob-forming; TransForm Products partners with OEM customers at every step of the product lifecycle to design, test and produce these unique powertrain components. Their newest manufacturing facility in Shelby Township, Michigan, features over 150,000 feet of production space for highly sophisticated components and assemblies for 9 and 10 speed automatic transmissions, specifically the aluminium flowform shell.
