Since the 1980s, Hong Kong has tightened its tobacco control measures progressively and resulted in a drop in smoking prevalence from over 23% in 1982 to 10.7% in 2012. Our achievement today owes to the concerted efforts of all who contributed in tobacco control, our working partners and the community. Everyday, TCO’s tobacco control inspectors are diligently carrying out frontline enforcement duties.
TCO also promotes smoking prevention and cessation and collaborates with non-governmental organizations. We will continue to work in close partnership with various sectors of the community to achieve a smoke-free Hong Kong.
