Implementing a Next Generation Risk Assessment.
Safety & Environmental Assurance Centre (SEAC) is a key part of the Unilever research and development organisation with responsibility to assure the safety and environmental sustainability of Unilever products, and the processes used to manufacture them. SEAC has a diverse range of scientific expertise that provides risk assessments for the consumer, occupational and environmental safety.
Over the past few years we have been involved in implementing new strategies for the safety assessment of new ingredients without testing in animals. Through numerous partnerships and collaborations, we have arrived at an approach, termed Next Generation Risk Assessment (NGRA), that uses a combination of in vitro and computational tools that enable us to deliver safe products without the traditional animal tests.
