The Center for Policing Excellence (CPE) was created in 2013 to enhance the effectiveness of public safety in Oregon through training and research partnerships. CPE’s activities focus on the concept of public value - ensuring outcomes that are meaningful to community members, as well as the use of research on what works for police in Oregon and around the world, to inform decisions and deliver on these outcomes. Through the recently formed Oregon Knowledge Bank, police across the state can access studies that provide an evidence base to what they do, as well as being able to share examples of their own work. CPE’s programs and resources have not only been successful in making public safety professionals aware of evidence-based practices, but have generated proactive, research-informed innovations throughout Oregon.
