Innovations in Diagnostics and Treatment of Prostate Cancer
The mission of the certified Cologne Prostate Cancer Centre (CPCC) is to provide excellent, high-quality and individualized care for patients with organ confined, locally advanced, metastatic and castration resistant PCA. To accomplish this goal, the CPCC has an interdisciplinary team of highly qualified urologists, radiation-oncologists, pathologists, radiaologists and nuclear medicine physicians.
For primary diagnosis urinary molecular tests, 3T multiparametric MRI and MRI fusion biopsies are used as routine procedures which have been performed in more than 700 patients during the last 2 years.
Primary treatment is discussed in a multidisciplinary tumor board for each individual patient and treatment options include focal therapy, robot-assisted and open retropubic radical prostatectomy, LDR- and HDR brachytherapy and IMRT plus IGRT depending on clinical stage, comorbidities and preference of the patient.
