Institute for Precision Medicine, University of Pittsburgh
Driving 21st Century Healthcare
The Institute for Precision Medicine (IPM), a joint effort of the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC focusses in 4 main areas: precision biobanking, genomics, big data and implementation science. Launched this year, the UPMC Genome Center (UGC) is a high-throughput, automated, cloud based, industrial-scale sequencing center. The UGC mission is to support researchers in their pursuit of understanding the DNA and RNA sequence variations in relation with phenotypic variability in human disease. Implementation science projects currently being supported by the IPM include whole genome sequencing in the NICU, and pharmacogenomics at a population scale.
