Department of Epidemiology and College of Health Sciences - University of California, Irvine
A Growing and Vibrant Department Improves Population Health Through Interdisciplinary and Translational Research
The mission of the Department of Epidemiology at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) is to improve population health through research, education, community engagement and translation of discoveries into practice. Understanding the role that genetic factors play in disease as well as their interactions with environmental, lifestyle, social, cultural, and behavioral factors is important in fulfilling our mission. The Department of Epidemiology partners with various centers across campus, such as the Stem Cell Center and the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center to conduct interdisciplinary and translational research. Through interdisciplinary work that involves campus, communities and private sector partners, and using information on the full range of health determinants the Department of Epidemiology is making an impact on improving the health of populations and communities, locally, nationally and globally.
