Achieving Health Equity Through Community Interventions
The UC Davis Center for Reducing Health Disparities (CRHD) recognizes, understands and has the experience and track record of building community partnerships through meaningful engagement and the translation and dissemination of research findings into practice for policy and program development and implementation at the local, state, and national levels. The CRHD focuses on raising awareness of the unique cultural and linguistic attributes of underserved communities, developing culturally and linguistically appropriate interventions for health system transformation, and working with policymakers, administrators, practitioners, consumers and families to reduce health-care disparities and improve quality of care in particular of underserved populations. Comprised of a team of experts from diverse disciplines including community engagement, education/training and evaluation that is culturally and linguistically sensitive, the CRHD has been successful in conducting solution-focused research. The CRHD is known across California and the nation to foster collaborations with community-based organizations and racially, ethnically and culturally diverse communities, public health agencies and other academic health centers. It conducts critical research and assists those communities whose needs have never been addressed or met by the traditional health-care system. The CRHD's ultimate goal is to improve health outcomes for all.
