The Center at Sierra Health Foundation
APHA 2018
Every person in California should have the opportunity to live a healthy life. That’s the vision we stand by
and the journey we are committed to. The Center at Sierra Health Foundation works to promote health
and racial equity in communities throughout California with local, state and national partners. With
strategy, creativity and ongoing collaboration, The Center strives to eradicate health inequities across the
state, especially within the underserved San Joaquin Valley. The Center is a new model of philanthropy: a
nonprofit intermediary partner that brings people, ideas, investment and infrastructure together for collective impact.
Leveraging funding to attract new partners to invest in communities throughout California, The Center collaborates
with a variety of partners to support organizations to expand their programs, advocate for policy change, deepen
community engagement and share knowledge. Programs are focused on black maternal and child health, gang and
gun violence prevention, policing alternatives, community-based emergency response networks, youth justice reform,
environmental justice, access to healthcare and safe food and water, community economic development, youth
opportunity, immigrant rights, racial equity and more.
