Morehouse School of Medicine is committed to leading the creation of advancement of health equity. Health equity involves getting people what they need, when they need it, and in the amount they need to maximize their health potential. Policy change is crucial to health equity, as policy sets the resources and opportunities necessary for communities to access quality healthcare and adopt healthier lifestyle habits. In this video we present several initiatives at Morehouse School of Medicine aimed at informing policy, systems, and environmental change to improve population health and eliminate health disparities. They include the Transdisciplinary Collaborative Center for Health Disparities Research, the REACH Health Initiative, and the Kennedy Center for Mental Health Policy and Research. These initiatives illustrate how strategic collaboration, leadership development, community engagement, and innovation are needed to inform policy and advance health equity among vulnerable populations.
