Watch Me Grow: Engaging parents in the monitoring and early identification of developmental issues
Watch-Me-Grow (WMG) is an electronic surveillance program that utilizes well validated developmental assessments/screens to engage parents of preschool children during opportunistic contact that they make with General Practice or other primary care settings. After completing the symptom checks using the WMG weblink, parents receive automated results along with anticipatory guidance and strategies matched with the screening results. Parents also receive reminder emails every six months to re-take the assessment as a way of ensuring ongoing monitoring. The results and recommendations are also transmitted to the clinician involved thereby providing busy clinicians and parents with developmental/behavioural information at their point-of-care visits to target and facilitate shared decision making.
