Florence Nightingale Hospital in Istanbul was established in 1989, and since 2004 has conducted over 1000 liver transplants at its Transplantation Center. Under the direction of Prof. Yaman Tokat, MD., the Center now performs over 100 transplants each year and is rated the first in Europe – during the ten year period it has carried out over 800 living donor liver transplants. Together with Prof. Yidiray Yuzer and other medical staff, Prof. Tokat outlines the story of the Transplantation Center, the survival rate of the patients, the importance of living donor transplants, and what experience the Florence Nightingale Hospital can share with the international medical community. These techniques involve personal care and treatment options, collaborative working with other medical disciplines and innovations in liver transplant.
