Oregon Business Development Department
Deterioration of the Port of Newport, Oregon’s terminal infrastructure, threatened loss of Alaskan Fishing Fleet business and even Terminal closure. The Port Commission took a leap of faith, and successfully got a voter-approved $15 million bond to cleanup and redevelop the Terminal. This redevelopment is now underway and has played a large part in a successful to become the location of the new NOAA Homeport. In addition, the nearby Port Toledo’s acquisition of a boatyard will provide maintenance capacity for the new ports. The result?
