Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging, University of Denver
Healthy Aging – A Noble Endeavor
The Knoebel Institute is focused on preventing rather than curing age-related neurological disorders by focusing on early biomarkers, life style factors and innovation in the gerotechnological space. The unique feature of this new institute is its highly interdisciplinary structure, with projects including financial security, intergenerational programming, music and the arts, as well as state-of-the art basic science. Our work truly extends from single molecules via cell and animal models to the well-being of the older adult human. Located in the new engineering building on the University of Denver campus, the Knoebel Institute works with 9 colleges at DU, including Engineering, Psychology, Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social work, Law and Business. Researchers also work with other Institutions in 13 different states and 10 different countries. This global and interdisciplinary focus is unique among Aging Institutes.
