The Center for Colon Cancer Research is one of the few research centers in the US totally dedicated to the investigation of colorectal cancer. It carries out interdisciplinary research that spans the fields of cell and molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, epidemiology, and population studies, aimed at improving an understanding of the basic biology of colorectal cancer. Interfacing with the research is a vibrant community outreach program involving the design and implementation of awareness, education, and screening across the state of South Carolina, with particular focus on uninsured and medically underserved communities.
