Heliophysics is an incredibly broad area of space physics covering everything from the Sun to Earth, past all the planets - as well as the spaces in between. It is the science of how energy and material move through space – a field which intersects with fundamental plasma physics, planetary science, astrophysics, and Earth science. NASA's Heliophysics Division supports a wide array of research to study the interconnected system linking the sun to Earth, to the planets, and the particles and magnetic energy coursing through space itself. NASA’s heliophysics strategic objective is to understand the sun and its interactions with Earth and the solar system, including space weather.

"By moving us beyond print, and even beyond the web in some ways, and having the Historians TV conference channels running throughout the conference and in the hotel rooms it really helps to give a sense that we're reaching into the future."
