Established as the African Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Partnerships (ACHAP) in 2000 as a public-private partnership (PPP) between the Government of Botswana, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and The Merck Foundation (TMF) Using a proposal-driven strategy ACHAP provided financial and technical support to the Government of Botswana, Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and the private sector. As a non-profit making corporation, ACHAP is now transitioning into an independent entity with a broader health mandate, wider geographical focus, continuing to build on and leverage on its core competencies in the field of HIV/AIDS and related health conditions.
