University of Iowa Center for Global & Regional Environmental Research
Pioneering Interdisciplinary Research & Discovery
The Center for Global and Regional Environmental Research (CGRER) at the University of Iowa is a state-funded institute devoted to studying and bettering the environment. Over the past 30 years, CGRER has grown from its initial 25 to today’s 132 interdisciplinary members who are primarily at Iowa’s educational institutions. First and foremost, CGRER has remained a research center, seeking to add to the body of knowledge about environmental change by bringing together investigators from broad disciplines including natural and social sciences, humanities, and engineering. Through these activities, CGRER assists Iowa’s agencies, industries, politicians, and citizens as they prepare for accelerated environmental change.
