Hello from Hong Kong
I’m writing this blog looking out over Hong Kong harbor. I’m here because we’ve just finished producing a series of television programmes for the World Congress on Anaesthesiologists –WCA TV.
It’s our first time working with the World Federation Of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) and our first major project in Hong Kong. It’s such a fascinating City with nearly seven and a half million people crammed into one of the most densely populated places on earth.
It’s an event that only happens every four years and it brings together thousands of anaesthesiologists from every part of the globe. They’re here to learn from their peers, to spread best practice and to make connections. Fundamentally I like to think they’re here to tell their story.
And what a powerful story it is. It’s about how to control pain to enable often-complex surgery to take place even in the poorest of communities. But more than that it’s about how to help each and every one of us to deal with pain – one of the most fundamental of human conditions.
So as storytellers ourselves we’ve been right at home here this week. It’s been quite a challenge with so many films to make and so many people to connect with. But if we’ve been able to help even in the smallest of ways it will have been a week well spent.
