Washington, DC – 18/04/16 – The Telly Awards has announced WebsEdge as a bronze winner in the education category at the 37th Annual Telly Awards for their piece titled Opportunities To ‘DO’ Science by Katie Temme, senior producer at WebsEdge. Stephen Horn CEO of WebsEdge said “In an age where filming technology is more accessible and widely used than ever before it is great to be recognized for quality video production and reflects Katie’s dedication and hard work, creating this fantastic informative film.”
Produced for Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Opportunities To ‘DO’ Science demonstrates how the K-12 classrooms can come alive through innovative and hands on STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) experiences. Educational programs at Fermilab connect the particle physics research community with educators to develop deeper scientific insight into particle physics and provide opportunities for students to ‘do’ science.
“With this video on our website, we have been able to let educators know the value of working with a research laboratory to enhance the teaching and learning of STEM subjects,” said Marge Bardeen, Manager of Fermilab’s Office of Education & Public Outreach at the time the video was produced. “Kids can do science at school in much the same way that we do science in our work but not all educators realize we can partner with them. We can show them with this video. It is rewarding to play an appropriate role in STEM education.”
Opportunities To ‘DO’ Science was filmed as part of NSTA TV a Conference TV production for National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) National Conference. NSTA is the largest organization in the world committed to promoting excellence and innovation in science teaching and learning.
Conference TV captures issues and audiences, through the power of television and is broadcast at many association conferences around the world. Creator of Conference TV and WebsEdge CEO Stephen Horn said “This Telly Award demonstrates to the continuing relevancy of Conference TV which covers some of the major challenges facing society today in health, education and government.”
Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring the finest video and film productions. “The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards. “WebsEdge’s accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”

We here at WebsEdge have fond memories of Dr Millie Dresselhaus. Over the years we have been fortunate to interview her a handful of times about her career, achievements and her commitment to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education, particularly for women. The MIT professor, named ‘Queen of Carbon’ was a pioneer in material […]
